I got money this week.
I didn't have to prove I was desperate, my failure to do a handstand(Which remains lifelong and total, btw) or my ability to handle talking to a social worker who usually needs as much hand-holding as I do. It was a real bright spot in the midst of everything being kind of awful(and not just because, if I preorder something, the charges come out at the *worst* possible instant, although this is also usually true,if not at the "truth universally acknowledged" stage.)
I will stipulate that in many metropolises, even getting the full amount is not sufficient, as people like AOC and Robert Reich have done better than I can.(It probably wouldn't be for me either if I was on my own for this.)
We could do better supporting people who stay at home.
Work at home needs to be a thing after this...it's felt nice feeling like a citizen.
ETA: I also wish that more of our benefit-providing energy as a society was less focused on "Catching Scammers" and arcane math that is probably more complicated than I am making it sound, but seems to boil down to "How little can we give you and hope you stay alive?"(Which can be difficult enough sometimes without a large swath of the general public believing that "Just go on disability!" is in any way as simple as that sounds or a good way to get a Brinks truck to pull up to your house.
SO many thanks to the advocates that helped me not have to file a Very Special Tax Return in the middle of all this...I have dyscalculia, and despite being peripheral to the actual crisis, still feel a bit like an emotional cavalcade sometimes...not sure I could handle that too/

Wrote a Letter to the Editor...
seems like old times.(kind of abandoned that kind of project when my mother read one of them and thoughtI could "befriend the author" who quoted someone I quote all the time. However I didn't use the word "shitsquib", which, given that my true audience was John McCain and Shitsquib in Chief Jeff Flake, seems like a sad oversight made in the name of a false courtesy that none of these people would show me.)
Not sure the letter is the most excellent thing I've ever written but my point in writing it is that it's bullshit that nobody whom I would consider a small business person seems to be getting small business money. It's bullshit that I'm still not sure if I get ANYTHING and that any money that goes out to Americans is, like, "Don't spend it all in one place," anyway...most developed nations are supporting people more...let's get crazy and help!
ETA: I may not have thought much of my letter, but the paper printed it. (I hope it was not the only one expressing this view or something...that would be upsetting.)

Bohemian Crip and The Case of The Wrenched Wrist...
Your correspondent needs to be a bit more mindful about her online time...I was on the mouse so much earlier this week that my wrist became painfully swollen. (Also, I never know what to do with my gangly disabled limbs in my sleep. #TriumphOfTheHumanSpirit #TheStruggleIsReal)
Yes, getting involved in campaigns and stuff is important, but I shouldn't take that whole thing with Resistance so literally--i'm not running radio-free europe
Wrist is much better, but need to at least pretend that my life has facets.

Another Call With Be A Hero....
Over the bracing strains of "Start It Up", Rep. Ocasio-Cortez told Ady Barkan she was "hanging in there" as she represents a hard-hit district Tuesday, in the hearing of over 2,000 healthcare advocates. "It's not only corona," The representative continued. "The virus just seeps into the cracks we've already left there and makes things worse." She went on to detail environmental racism that makes her part of Queens polluted and leads to the country's highest asthma rates, underpayment of low-wage workers and the like.
Still, and despite her colleagues' resistance to change, she sees reasons for optimism. "Though the stimulus is inadequate, I've seen some Overton-window blasting things...my colleagues are considering things they might have laughed at before."
Ocasio-Cortez was joined on the call by Assemblywoman Karines Reyes, a Democrat from New York's 87th District. Reyes has returned to nursing, in a move reminiscent of earlier disaster-relief volunteering she's done in Puerto Rico and Haiti. "This has been equal to things I've seen in third-world countries." She also added that the health effects of corona may be far-reaching, as staff shortages complicate care decisions, leading to secondary conditions such as amputations. Reyes voted against New York's recent budget over Medicaid cuts.
Be A Hero has teamed up to buy 7,000 masks for nurses.

Although It's Late For Resolutions...
I'm making one here. Anyone who replies to something I say with just "WTF?" can live in ignorance from now on. It's not an invitation to a clear-eyed airing of grievances...they don't really want to know "tf" for lack of a better phrase, they just want to tell me I'm wrong.(Which is okay...I'm not put out by that, but if somebody saw me on the street and called me "ugly", I doubt that I'd rush up to them with testimonials from my friends and charts of facial sy.mnetry. Yet, online, I do this a lot and I need to stop.
